This wine is made by Rovellotti winery with 90% Nebbiolo and 10% Vespolina grapes under the Ghemme DOCG of Piedmont, in northwestern Italy.
The designation of origin Ghemme DOCG is reserved for Ghemme and Ghemme Riserva red wines, obtained from at least 85% Nebbiolo grapes (locally called Spanna), while the use of Vespolina and Uva Rara (Bonarda Novarese) grapes is allowed
up to a maximum of 15%.
Ghemme is situated in the province of Novara and produced on the territory of the municipality of Ghemme and partly that of of Romagnano Sesia.
The minimum aging of the basic Ghemme is at least 34 months, of which at least 18 in wood, while for the Ghemme Riserva (as in this case) the aging time is at least 46 months, of which 24 in wood.
I bought this bottle directly at the winery when I visited in 2021. I don’t remember how much I paid, but it should cost around 40 EUR.
