Friulano I Ferretti 2021

The colour is medium straw. On the nose pineapple, peach, candied citrus fruits, chamomile. In the mouth harmonious, with a good acidity. The aftertaste is medium long.

This Friulano white wine is made by Tenuta Luisa in Friuli, in the Northeast of Italy.

About 50% of the grapes have been slightly withered on the plant for about 10-12 days to obtain a more concentrated, rich and fragrant wine. The juice has then been fermented 30% in oak barrels and 70% in steel vats.

Friulano is a white berry grape variety, widely cultivated in Friuli-Venezia Giulia and in Slovenia (in the Goriška Brda ZGP, Kras ZGP, and Vipavska dolina ZGP). Until 2007 it was called Tocai, the name by which it is still known in much of Friuli-Venezia Giulia.

The story of Luisa winery started in 1907 with Francesco Luisa and his small five-hectare estate. Two generation later, his grandson Eddi began to dedicate himself to vineyards and wineries, transforming the property into what has become Tenuta Luisa. Nowadays, his sons Davide, an agronomist, follows the vineyards, and Michele, an enologist, is responsible for winemaking.

For this bottle I paid 16 EUR directly at the winery, when I visited in autumn last year.
