La Mostella 2023

The colour is dark ruby. On the nose grapes, cherries, raspberries and a gentle herbal touch. In the mouth a good balance between fine tannins and a refreshing acidity, with a drying finish. The aftertaste is medium long.

This red wine has been made with Vespolina grapes under the Colline Novaresi DOC. Continue reading “La Mostella 2023”

Costa del Salmino 2015

The colour is deep garnet. On the nose cherries and floral notes of roses and lavender. In the mouth, at first rather harsh, with drying tannins. The aftertaste is pretty long.

This wine is made by Rovellotti winery with 90% Nebbiolo and 10% Vespolina grapes under the Ghemme DOCG of Piedmont, in northwestern Italy. Continue reading “Costa del Salmino 2015”

Terrini Boca 2016

The colour is deep garnet. On the nose blood and alcohol (my blood type 😊). In the mouth tannins and alcohol. The aftertaste is very short (fortunately). This wine is barely drinkable, and I decided not to drink it.

Boca DOC is one of the lesser-known red wine appellations in the Piedmont region of northwest Italy. The leading variety is Nebbiolo (here named Spanna). Continue reading “Terrini Boca 2016”

C’era una volta… 2019

Another simple and fruity wine, like most I have been drinking during my wandering on the Via Francigena in Lombardy and Emilia. Wines that are better drunk than talked about. Mostly cheap, but nevertheless enjoyable. Like this Buttafuoco dell’Oltrepò Pavese DOC that I bought at a Supermarket for 3.99 EUR. An easy to drink wine that paired well with the sandwich filled with rolled bacon I had for lunch. Continue reading “C’era una volta… 2019”
