The colour is pale gold. On the nose chamomile, white peach, pear and lemon zest. In the mouth crisp and clean, with a slight salinity. The finish is surprisingly long for a wine in this price range.
This 100% Garganega based wine is made by Inama, a renowned winery located in the Soave region of Veneto, Italy. Known for its high-quality white wines, the winery was founded in the 1960s by Giuseppe Inama, who sought to revitalize the Soave area by focusing on terroir-driven, expressive wines. Vin Soave, a modern, fruit-forward expression of Garganega, is their flagship wine and it represents half of the winery’s production.
Native to the Veneto region of northeastern Italy, Garganega is one of Italy’s oldest white grape varieties. It forms the foundation of Soave DOC and Soave Classico DOC wines, with a winemaking tradition that dates back to Roman times.
Inama’s vineyards are situated on the slopes of a dormant volcano: Monte Foscarino, comprising basaltic lava, volcanic tuff, and rich red clays, ideal for the Garganega grape. Garganega was planted here by the Romans over 2’000 years ago. Monte Foscarino is one of the most prestigious and historic crus (vineyard sites) within the Soave Classico DOC zone.
I bought this bottle for 12 EUR at the winery when last year I visited the area with my son.
