Albeit the wine is already 14 years old, the nose is still dominated by fruits, with cassis, blueberry and blackberry as the main standouts. In the mouth no sign of age neither, well rounded, elegant and delicate. This wine is very pleasant from the nose to the aftertaste. An outstanding product from a far from perfect vintage. Clarendon Hills Onkaparinga 2005
On the nose, at first simpler than I expected, with spices prevailing over the black fruits flavours. Menthol and balsamic notes come forward and predominate the first impression. After a while, plumb and blackberries aromas come more to the stage and after one hour dominates. Continue reading “Clarendon Hills Onkaparinga 2005”
Aalto 2012
Very tempting and opulent aroma of ripe fruits. Red fruits dominate: raspberries, strawberries and cherries, but some black berries are also clearly detectable. Surprisingly, given the 14.5% alcohol and the 20 months spent in oak, neither the wood nor the alcohol spoils the olfactory experience.
The bright, lively fruits shine through the mouth as well. Continue reading “Aalto 2012”

Very pleasant and satisfying from the first sniff. Ripe and intense nose of predominantly red fruits. In the mouth soft texture, despite the firm tannins. Some orange like sensations. Smooth finish and pretty long aftertaste.

Intense golden color. Rich nose, with a predominance of mango and apricot aromas, complemented by some pineapple and crème brûlée.
Unctuous, oily and weightless texture, with apricot flavours showing up again. Lovely and very clean finish, with an aftertaste that last forever. Continue reading “Château d’Yquem 2005”
Chateau Musar 2009
12 November 2017
Olfactory the first impression is of tea with a hint of mint. After swirling, the smell turns earthy and meaty, with fruity aromas in the background. Some more air and the sensations change again and become more subtle.
In the mouth the wine is soft and smooth, with well-balanced acidity and tannins. Continue reading “Chateau Musar 2009”
L’Equilibrista 2013
1 November 2017
Elegant and well balanced, as the name let you expect. On the nose red fruits, with some spicy notes. In the mouth discrete, with a pleasant acidity that follows you in the aftertaste. The high alcohol content (15%) gets completely undetected, both on the nose and in the mouth. One more sign of a well achieved equilibrium. Continue reading “L’Equilibrista 2013”
