The colour is deep garnet. On the nose black cherries and plums, interwoven with notes of mocha, tobacco leaf and cedar. In the mouth savoury and balanced. The tannins are refined and well-integrated, providing structure without aggression. The finish is slightly bitter. The aftertaste pleasant and medium-long.

The colour is medium gold. The mousse is fine and persistent. The bouquet is elegant, with floral and citrus elements framed by delicate bread-dough nuances. On the palate, it is balanced and refined. Crisp acidity underpins the wine, giving lift and tension. The colour is pale gold. The mousse is lively, slightly broad at first but then refining into a finer, persistent perlage. On the nose lemon zest, green apple and white peach, intertwine with hints of crushed chalk. In the mouth fresh, savoury and mouthwatering. The finish is clean and brisk, though somewhat short, leaving a final impression of citrus zest.

The colour is medium ruby. On the nose dark cherries, plums, cocoa powder, green pepper. In the mouth masculine and rustic, with a not very long aftertaste.
Being a still relatively young Second Grand Cru Classé of Bordeaux, I decided to decant it and the experience greatly improved.

The colour is in both cases medium ruby. On the nose also pretty similar. Both display an aroma of herbs, red and black berries, with the addition of leather and tobacco for the 2009, and coffee and chocolate for the 2012. In the mouth they are both very elegant. The tannins of the 2012 are edgier. The aftertaste medium long in both cases.
