The colour is deep ruby, almost black. On the nose menthol, burnt wood, iron, mushrooms, fig, blackberries. In the mouth a solid structure, with well present tannins and a medium acidity. The aftertaste is fairly long and pleasant.

On the nose a nice aroma of ripe/under spirit fruits, complemented by herbs, liquorice and tobacco notes. In the mouth a bit rough, due to the prickly tannins. A nice contrast to the sweet olfactory sensations. The aftertaste is drying, a bit bitter and, considering the overall experience, a little anticlimactic. Continue reading “Serpico 2012”
Deep ruby red to the eyes. Rich, ripe and intense on the nose, with notes of black berries and spices. Nice and fascinating complexity, with the fruit that keeps hiding and showing up discretely. In the mouth elegant, but less filling than you could expect. Earthy, mineral sensations dominate. Firm yet rounded tannins and nice acidity. The aftertaste gets a bit cut off. This Aglianico del Vulture presents itself with a nose dominated by blueberries. In the mouth tannins and alcohol dominate.
