The colour is medium gold, with fine, long lingering bubbles. On the nose pastry and creamy notes, with a hint of apricot. In the mouth velvety and tasty. The aftertaste last for a pleasant while.

Tolérance

The colour is medium copper, with fine, persistent bubbles. On the nose bread crust, marzipan and blood oranges. In the mouth this Champagne strongly recall the blood oranges first detected on the nose. The aftertaste is delicious and last for a pleasant while.

La Grande Dame 2012

The colour is medium straw, with fine, long-lasting bubbles. On the nose very elegant, but overly subtle, with some caramel and almond notes. In the mouth also very elegant, but much tastier and with a very pleasant long lasting aftertaste.

Philipponnat Royale Réserve Brut

The colour is medium gold, with fine, medium-lasting bubbles. On the nose a bit over the top, with mainly tertiary notes imparted by the oak and some oxidation. In the mouth not very tasty and rather on the short side.

Cuvée Fleur de Craie Brut

The colour is medium straw, with very fine, long-lasting bubbles. On the nose grapefruits and pears, accompanied by buttery notes. In the mouth fresh and tasty. The aftertaste is medium long.

The Cuvée Fleur de Craie is a champagne made by Bolieu with 100% Chardonnay grapes from vineyards planted in 1972 and 1973, the year I was born. The vineyards are located in Bassuet at the edge of the Côte des Blancs. Continue reading “Cuvée Fleur de Craie Brut”

Malcantone Bianco di Cademario 2018

The colour is medium yellow. On the nose mirabelles, white peaches, banana, grapefruit, almonds. In the mouth very smooth and tasty, but less opulent than on the nose. The aftertaste is not very long, but pleasantly fruity.

This white wine is made by Cantina Monti. It is a blend of white grapes: more than 50% Müller-Thurgau, with Chardonnay and a bit of Pinot Gris. The pressed must is fermented and aged in barrique. Continue reading “Malcantone Bianco di Cademario 2018”

Comptes de Champagne 2011

The colour is medium straw, with very fine, long-lasting bubbles. On the nose very elegant, with notes of cream and almonds. In the mouth well balanced and very tasty: delicious! The aftertaste lasts for a pretty long time.

This prestigious champagne is made by Taittinger with 100% Chardonnay grapes. All grapes come from Grand Crus classified vineyards. It is a Brut with 9g of sugar per litre. Continue reading “Comptes de Champagne 2011”

Cuvée Cyril Premier Cru Millésimé 2012

The colour is medium gold, with very fine, short-lasting bubbles. On the nose cream, apricot, lime and almonds. In the mouth tasty and filling, with sensations consistent with the nose. The aftertaste is fresh and medium long.

Gaston Cheq Blanc de Blancs Millésime 2015

The colour is pale gold, with fine, medium-lasting bubbles. On the nose citrusy and floral, with notes of bread. In the mouth similar citrusy and bakery aromas, with a medium long, fragrant finish.

Brut de Muid

This Blanc de Blancs is made with 100% Chardonnay grapes using the traditional method and spends two years on the lees. It is a simple, but well made sparkling wine.

Although overall I consider it a very pleasant sparkling wine, I find it hard to write tasting notes. I therefore avoid it. Seems like that even Champagne wines are often so subtly aromatic that the effervescence may mask their delicate bouquet.
