Tasting Notes of Wines around the World
The colour is pale garnet. On the nose very ripe fruits, plum and cappuccino. It reminds of a Tawny Port. In the mouth well integrated but still gripping tannins. The aftertaste is disappointingly short.

The colour is pale garnet. On the nose rose, raspberry and cinnamon. In the mouth, soft, discreet, light. The aftertaste reminds of strawberries, but doesn’t last long. Overall, pleasant but not very fulfilling.
The village of Carema lies in a valley northwest of Piedmont and marks the divide between Piedmont and the Aosta Valley. The backdrop to the village is a spectacular expanse of vineyards clinging onto rocky slopes. Continue reading “Carema 2017”
The colour is deep ruby. On the nose red fruits: strawberries, raspberries and cherries. In the mouth the same fruits are perceived. The acidity is pronounced, as it is typical for Barbera based wines. The aftertaste doesn’t last long. Continue reading “La Luna e i Falò 2017”
Bricco dell’Uccellone has a medium garnet colour. On the nose at first an unpleasant smell of fish and cabbage. With some air, a more pleasant plumb and cinnamon aroma. In the mouth very rounded and smooth, with a medium long aftertaste.
Bricco della Bigotta also has a medium garnet colour. On the nose a much more pleasant aroma that reminds of chocolate, gingerbread, tiramisu and panettone. The colour is deep garnet. On the nose at first very closed. With some air it opens up, but the bouquet remains very subtle, with a predominance of underground. In the mouth a solid structure, with good acidity and well-integrated tannins. The aftertaste is at first very short, but after some air exposure it becomes fairly long.
Similar to its more famous sibling Barolo, Barbaresco is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes and is considered among the finest wines in the world. Continue reading “Gaja Barbaresco 2008”

The colour is deep garnet. Slightly cloudy. On the nose dark cherries and blackberries. The 14.5% alcohol is clearly perceived on the nose as well as in the mouth. The firm tannins characteristic of a Barolo wine dominates the sensations in the mouth and leave it clean and dry.
As any Barolo, Vigna del Gris is made with 100% Nebbiolo, the grape variety behind the top-quality red wines of Piedmont in north-western Italy. Continue reading “Vigna del Gris 2008”
The colour is medium straw. On the nose hazelnut, accompanied by mineral sensations. In the mouth fresh, with an aftertaste that reminds of the hazelnut first perceived on the nose.
This wine is made entirely with Timorasso grapes by Vigne Marina Coppi. It is dedicated to the winemaker’s grandfather: Fausto Coppi, an Italian cyclist of international fame. Continue reading “Fausto 2015”
Granbussia 1974: This bottle, made one year after I was born, is among those that make it worth the multiple disappointments anybody brave enough to keep experimenting with very old wines necessarily goes through.
