The phylloxera-free Canaries are among only a few places in the world to have ungrafted vitis vinifera vines. Some are over 200 years old, and many are exclusive to the islands: there are 20 recognized unique grape varieties. This red wine is made with Vijariego grapes under the Gran Canaria DO. Vijariego Negro is a little-known red grape variety indigenous to the Canary Islands. The colour is pale yellow. On the nose notes of citrus and white flowers. In the mouth medium bodied, well balanced, and pleasant. Unfortunately, the aftertaste is rather short.
This white wine is made under the Gran Canaria Denominación de Origen. This designation’s Canarian wines are produced throughout the whole island.
