Osar 2006

The colour is very dark ruby, almost black. On the nose ripe blackberries and cola. In the mouth plenty of tannins. The slightly fruity and mainly drying aftertaste is pretty long.

Osar is made with 100% Oseleta grapes, an extremely rare red wine variety grown in the northwestern region of Veneto in Italy. The earliest documentation relating to Oseleta dates back only 150 years or so, but oral tradition in the region holds that the variety has been used there for many centuries. Oro Puro

On the nose this Valdobbiadene Superiore di Cartizze DOCG presents the apple and pear aroma (or white peach, depending on your point of reference) typical of Glera, the main grape variety used to produce Prosecco (at least 85% of the blend).

The apple-pear marriage is apparent in the mouth as well, where the high acidity is nicely balanced by the effervescence. Continue reading “Oro Puro”

Dal Forno Romano Vigneto Monte Lodoletta Valpolicella Superiore 2010

On the nose primarily coffee, cacao and cherry. Some vegetable notes are also clearly detectable and they accompany you in the mouth till the end, with a rough feel that I personally find a bit disturbing, but could also be peculiar to this unique wine. i Filari del Nino 2016

The only reason I bought this Bardolino DOC Classico is because it is made without any sulphites added, and I was curious to judge the result.

The nose is very fresh and clean. Not obvious, given the bacteriological risks associated with not adding sulphites. The aroma of sour-cherry typical of the Corvina grape dominates.  Continue reading “i Filari del Nino 2016”

Amarone Vigne Alte Zeni 2013

22 October 2017

Strong notes of mocha and black chocolate, both on the nose and in the mouth. Very good persistence, with a predominance of spirit soaked fruits, which doesn’t surprise, given the 15.5% alcohol typical for an “appassito” wine.

At around 30 CHF a bottle (at Coop), this is a fairly good Amarone. Continue reading “Amarone Vigne Alte Zeni 2013”
