The colour is very dark ruby, almost black. On the nose ripe blackberries and cola. In the mouth plenty of tannins. The slightly fruity and mainly drying aftertaste is pretty long.
Osar is made with 100% Oseleta grapes, an extremely rare red wine variety grown in the northwestern region of Veneto in Italy. On the nose this Valdobbiadene Superiore di Cartizze DOCG presents the apple and pear aroma (or white peach, depending on your point of reference) typical of Glera, the main grape variety used to produce Prosecco (at least 85% of the blend).
Pleasantly fruity on the nose and (especially) in the mouth. It doesn’t really have any persistence worth mentioning, but thanks to its acidity and effervescency, the wine is very refreshing.
On the nose primarily coffee, cacao and cherry. Some vegetable notes are also clearly detectable and they accompany you in the mouth till the end, with a rough feel that I personally find a bit disturbing, but could also be peculiar to this unique wine.
The only reason I bought this Bardolino DOC Classico is because it is made without any sulphites added, and I was curious to judge the result.
This Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC produced by Zenato welcomes you with a very pleasant and inviting fruity aroma, with hints of raisins, but not as pronounced as in Amarone. Sour-cherry under spirit, herbs, spices and chocolate can also be perceived.
Strong notes of mocha and black chocolate, both on the nose and in the mouth. Very good persistence, with a predominance of spirit soaked fruits, which doesn’t surprise, given the 15.5% alcohol typical for an “appassito” wine.
