Tasting Notes of Wines around the World
The colour is pale amber. On the nose fruits under spirit, walnuts, wood. In the mouth smooth and sweet. Well balanced. The aftertaste is drying and last for a pleasant while.
Ratafia is made from the standard Champagne grapes, using left over grape juice of the harvest from the third or fourth press, to which alcohol is added to avoid fermentation. This Blanc de Blancs is made with 100% Chardonnay grapes using the traditional method and spends two years on the lees. It is a simple, but well made sparkling wine.
Although overall I consider it a very pleasant sparkling wine, I find it hard to write tasting notes. I therefore avoid it. Seems like that even Champagne wines are often so subtly aromatic that the effervescence may mask their delicate bouquet. The colour is (very) pale ruby. On the nose at first mainly acetone, which with some air fades, but doesn’t disappear (unfortunately). In the mouth acidic. The aftertaste doesn’t last long (fortunately).

The colour is pale yellow. On the nose some melon, pear, green apple and herbs. In the mouth very fresh with a marked citrusy flavour. The aftertaste is medium long.
Apremont is one of the best known white wine crus of the Vin de Savoie appellation of the Alps in eastern France. The wines are often made from Jacquère alone. The colour is deep garnet. On the nose blood and alcohol (my blood type 😊). In the mouth tannins and alcohol. The aftertaste is very short (fortunately). This wine is barely drinkable, and I decided not to drink it.

The colour is medium garnet. On the nose prunes, blueberries and meat. In the mouth light, but well balanced and still pleasant to drink. The aftertaste is medium long.
This wine is a blend of 60% Avgoustiatis and 40% Mourvedre grapes. Avgoustiatis is a little-known red wine grape variety found scattered around the Greek islands (most notably on Zakynthos) and the Peloponnese peninsula. The colour is deep ruby. On the nose cherries and lawn. In the mouth not much body, but a pleasantly sour and drying finish. The kind of wine that pairs well with greasy dishes. The aftertaste doesn’t last long.
Naigartèn is a natural wine made by Gradizzolo winery in Monteveglio on the hills near Bologna. Before release, it is aged 12 months in big oak barrels and 6 months in bottle. It is made with 100% Negrettino grapes. Continue reading “Naigartèn 2019”

The colour is medium gold. The bubbles very subtle. On the nose vinous and nutty notes. In the mouth refreshing, with an aftertaste that last quite a while.
What impressed me most about this wine when I first tasted it with the producer at the Gradizzolo winery in Monteveglio on the hills close to Bologna, has been the purity of aroma and taste for a wine that is 100% natural. Continue reading “Bersót 2020”
