Tasting Notes of Wines around the World
The colour is pale gold, with fine, medium-lasting bubbles. On the nose mandarins (a lot), mirabelle and candied fruit. In the mouth flavors in harmony with the nose. Full bodied. The aftertaste last for quite a while.
Blanc de Noirs is white Champagne made exclusively from red grapes: Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier. Blanc de Noirs Champagnes are, on the whole, richer and fuller bodied than wines with a major component of Chardonnay. Continue reading “Malard Grand Cru Blanc de Noirs”
This Blanc de Blancs is made with 100% Chardonnay grapes using the traditional method and spends two years on the lees. It is a simple, but well made sparkling wine.
Although overall I consider it a very pleasant sparkling wine, I find it hard to write tasting notes. I therefore avoid it. Seems like that even Champagne wines are often so subtly aromatic that the effervescence may mask their delicate bouquet. The colour is medium straw. The perlage is delicate. On the nose a hint of Danish pastry, with some apples and pears. In the mouth not much, beside the bubbly sensation. No aftertaste worth mentioning neither.

The perlage is delicate. On the nose very aromatic, with notes of melon, peach, pear, and mandarin. In the mouth delicate and refreshing, with some residual sweetness.

The colour is medium garnet. On the nose meaty and earthy character, with some cherries. In the mouth rather light, but pleasant. The aftertaste is medium long and enjoyable.
I hardly drink very cheap wines, but when I saw this bottle selling at Coop for 2.60 CHF, 60% off the original price of 6.50 CHF, I couldn’t resist the temptation of tasting it. Continue reading “El Tauro 2015”
The colour is medium garnet. On the nose corked. With time it only gets worst. Very unfortunate, but it happens.
A “corked” wine, which smells like wet newspaper/cardboard, is the result of the presence of a chemical called TCA (2,4,6 trichloranisole). While unpleasant, cork taint is not in any way harmful to humans. Today several procedures and treatments are in place to render cork less susceptible to developing cork taint, but it can still happen. As it has been the case with this bottle. This Lambrusco presents itself with its typical deep purple colour and a delicate foam. On the nose the wine is vinous, with wild strawberries, fresh plums and pomegranate. In the mouth the palate is welcomed by a pleasant effervescence and left with a drying, slightly bitter sensation. A wine that pair well with the local charcuterie. Continue reading “Canova NV”
On the nose this Valdobbiadene Superiore di Cartizze DOCG presents the apple and pear aroma (or white peach, depending on your point of reference) typical of Glera, the main grape variety used to produce Prosecco (at least 85% of the blend).
The apple-pear marriage is apparent in the mouth as well, where the high acidity is nicely balanced by the effervescence. Continue reading “Oro Puro”
On the nose some almonds. That’s pretty much all there is to say about this wine. In the mouth nothing seductive and no aftertaste worth mentioning. Overall, I’m disappointed with this wine produced by Badoux.

Pleasantly fruity on the nose and (especially) in the mouth. It doesn’t really have any persistence worth mentioning, but thanks to its acidity and effervescency, the wine is very refreshing.
