Delicate nose of melon, peach and pineapple mixed together; accompanied by light herbal aromas. In the mouth fruity and refreshing, but not overly so. The aftertaste last for a fairly long time and recalls the melon first perceived on the nose.
Villa Sparina is probably the most widely known wine produced under the (Cortese di) Gavi DOCG denomination of Piedmont. Continue reading “Villa Sparina 2017”
On the nose ananas mixed with grapefruit welcomes you, followed by some marzipan. In the mouth well balanced, but less tasty and complex than I expected. On the other side, I find the finish very interesting: at first very discreet, but the flavour soon comes back full of fruit and it last for a long time.
On the nose vanilla ice cream with sour cherries. The tannins are firm and leave you with a dry mouth. The lingering aftertaste is pleasantly bitter, an interesting contrast to the smooth fruity aroma.
On the nose strawberry jelly with some herbs mixed in. In the mouth light from start to finish. The aftertaste is very discreet, with the strawberry coming back to say goodbye. Certainly not an intellectual wine, but in its simplicity is a fresh and clean wine that can be enjoyed during a light meal with friends.
On the nose a pleasant aroma of candied fruits, accompanied by some spicy notes, which give a prickly sensation. In the mouth filling and fresh, with a flavourful finish that linger for a long aftertaste of honeyed nuts.
The nose is characterised by an inviting peach aroma. In the mouth rather light, without much neither of savour nor persistence.
On the nose gentle floral aromas complemented by undertones of hazelnut and fresh herbs. In the mouth crispy and mildly astringent. The slightly bitter aftertaste is surprisingly long.
On the nose at first it smells like blood, which pairs well with the color. After it gets some air, the aroma leans towards strawberries. In the mouth refreshing. Not much to praise or criticise, as it is the case with water. No aftertaste worth mentioning neither: a bit of sour cherry, but not much.
Citrus flavour like lemon and grapefruit dominates both on the nose and in the mouth. Beside the addition of some marzipan, I find the aromatic profile, as well as the tactile sensations of this wine, rather simple. Some more richness comes out in the aftertaste, where the citrus sensations linger for quite a while.
On the nose mainly tropical fruits, like ananas, and citrus, with some spicy undertones. Somehow it also reminds me of the Narghilè I used to smoke while travelling in the Middle East. In the mouth less fresh and rich than you would expect from the nose. Rather lean and without much of neither finish nor aftertaste.
